Find the right medication for you based on your unique DNA.

The RightMed test was co-created by the Mayo clinic to help reduce risk of medication-related side effects. Results are shared only with you and your doctor – not your health insurer, life insurer or employer.

Your RightMed test may be covered by your Michigan insurance plan:

Many Blue Care Network members are eligible for a no-cost* RightMed test through Blue Cross Personalized Medicine℠ (click to read more). These eligible members should have received letters or emails about the RightMed test. Other Michigan insurers may also cover the RightMed test – we’d be happy to discuss your options at 844-663-6635 or support@oneome.com.

Common Genetic Testing Questions:

Will you share my results with my employer?

No. Your results are shared with you, your doctor and a genetic clinician specialized in understanding how genes influence the body’s response to certain medications. If you’d like to share them with other members of your care team down the road, you can. Your DNA doesn’t change, so your results continue to be valuable for future use.

Will my test results tell me exactly what to do?

No. Your results are one important source of information for you and your care team to consider, along with your medical history and other clinical factors. Many things influence how your medications perform and test results are not a guarantee.

Can the results be used to identify me, track me or connect to any other registry/database (paternity, crime, etc.?)

No. Your results are shared with you and your doctor. We do not sell or share your results with your insurer, your employer, government agencies, or anyone else. The RightMed test covers 27 genes and more than 100 alleles focused on those proven to impact how you respond to medications. It does not cover your complete genome, look for things like disease risk, or hereditary genetic disorders.

Will my information be kept forever? Is it safe?

Your test sample is held onsite for 60 days, after which it is destroyed. Your test results are handled and stored with utmost security to meet or exceed strict requirements outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPAA) and applicable state law requirements.

My medications are working fine – can the RightMed test still help me?

Yes! Your DNA doesn’t change – so your results will be valuable in informing new prescriptions you may need down the road. Enrolling in the program now will ensure your results are ready when you need them, so your treatment can begin more quickly.

Your genes play a big role…

Did you know medications work may differently for you based on your DNA? Past medications may have either given you side effects or not worked at all. This may happen because your unique genetic make-up influences how you respond to certain medications. The RightMed test looks at your genes to help you and your healthcare provider learn which medications may work best for you.

Please don’t make any changes to your medications without talking to your healthcare provider first.

The RightMed test may help:

  • Find the best medication for you earlier in treatment.

  • Reduce medication related side effects.

  • Save you time and money.

  • Provide years of informed medication decisions.

The right medications.

Right for you.
